Every Rose Has its Thorn

Guys, I am like the worst bride ever.

That's my guilty face.
I met with with two florists a few months ago. And now, there are only five months left til the wedding and I still haven't chosen one yet. And do you want to know why? It's not because I didn't like them (actually they were both pretty awesome). It's because I really just don't care about flowers.

I need to start out by saying that I know nothing about flowers. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

Okay wait, I know two things! Ready?

1) I hate roses.
2) I love calla lilies.

Right. Well, I know that's not much to go on, but that's pretty much how I approached the florists I met with.

Florist A was very straight forward. He took my inspiration photo...
(Yeah, that's right I said photo. Singular. This is how terrible I am about flowers.)

And said he could make that exactly. From my bouquet to the bridesmaids, from ceremony decor to the centerpieces. He made it so simple. It almost felt too easy.

Then we met with Florist B. Florist B was very nice, but to tell you that my head was spinning when I left her shop would be an understatement. After we walked out the door my mom turned to me and all she said was, "Wow". I'm pretty sure my exact response was, "I have a headache". Not always what you want to be thinking when you leave a vendor. She showed us a billion different varieties of flowers as well as endless ways to mix and match them for our wedding. All of a sudden I didn't know what I wanted anymore.

Do you know how many kinds of flowers there are out there?!?! A LOT.

While Florist A was straightforward and gave us exactly what we showed him, Florist B really took my inspiration and ran with it. It was overwhelming for sure, but it was nice to see some other options.

And so I've been sitting here twiddling my thumbs trying to decide which one to pick. Do I go with the first florist who will give me exactly what I showed him? Or do I go with the florist who took my ideas a little further? They both brought me two very different perspectives about wedding flowers and honestly, I'm really not sure which one I like better.

How did you choose your wedding florist? Were you as overwhelmed by the choices as I was?
