Key Largo, Montego.. Baby, Why Don't We Go?

Now that we had narrowed down islands and the type of resort we were looking for it was time for some research. We came across a ton of ah-mazing all-inclusive resorts, but unfortunately we had to choose just one. I personally love reading about different resorts so I'm going to give you guys a bit of a breakdown on some of the places we looked into. I hope you find it helpful! If you're just interested in seeing where we're going, then scroll on down to the bottom of the page for the big reveal. :)

Here were some of our favorites and why they did or didn't make the cut:

Sandals, St. Lucia

Pros: My aunt (BM J) honeymooned here with her new hubby just a few years ago. They had nothing but amazing things to say about it. Honestly, that was enough of a selling point for me! There are three different Sandals resorts in St. Lucia and a shuttle runs back and forth between them so you can enjoy the activities and restaurants at all three resorts. That means tons of variety and things to do. Add in the fact that it's all-inclusive and adults only? Sign me up!

Cons: Sandals is incredibly well known and is the go-to vacation spot for many couples… Almost every recently married couple we know went to a Sandals resort for their honeymoon. Now that's not necessarily a con, but it just didn't seem as special to us since we know so many people who have already been there. Plus we wanted to go big for our honeymoon and just couldn't afford some of the more luxurious rooms.  We'd have to scale back a bit if we stayed here. I'm sure we'll visit a Sandals resort in the future, just to check it out for ourselves, but for our honeymoon we want to do something really special.

Cocobay, Antigua

Pros: Oh my word, now this place. Well, let's see, you have your own private plunge pool. That's it. Seriously? I don't need to give you any more pros. I'll let the photos do the talkin':

Yeah, I could totally get used to that view.

Cons: There isn't much to do here in terms of activities. It's a smaller resort which is great if you're looking for something secluded and private. It's also all-inclusive, but there is only one restaurant (well, there is a second restaurant at the resort, but it's not part of the all-inclusive package so we didn't count it). Neither of us really want to eat the same thing for a week. I could see us easily getting bored here after a few days, although I would loooove to stay in that plunge pool at this resort for a long weekend.

Almond Morgan Bay, St. Lucia

Pros: This place has a lot going for it. A good variety in restaurants, plenty of activities and tons of ocean view rooms. And prices were reasonable in comparison to what we were looking at.

Cons: Kid-friendly. Now this wasn't a deal breaker for me, but knowing that there were so many adult-only options available it was hard to commit to this place. I read a lot of reviews from families so that made me nervous. And even though we're going in an off-season it is summertime, so families might be more likely to vacation. (FYI - They have a few resorts in Barbados and I believe one of them is adults only, but we weren't really interested in that island.)

And finally at long last...

Our honeymoon destination revealed!

Couples San Souci, Jamaica

Pros: This place seems similar to a Sandals, but way better and way cheaper. First off, there is a free shuttle that takes you to the resort so that's a definite plus. No shady cab rides if you book with these guys (I've had enough of those in NYC)! One of the biggest selling point for us is the whirlpool tub in our room. Sure, it's no private infinity pool, but it's better than nothing! There is also room service and a fully stocked mini-bar. We may never leave the room! *wink, wink*

But when we do want to leave the room there are restaurants, bars, water sports, tours, the list goes on! There is even a private au natural island with its own pool and restaurant (whether or not we're brave enough to check it out is yet to be determined).

Cons: Yes, believe it or not there are a few cons! Mr. Coyote wasn't too sold on Jamaica… He much preferred Antigua or St. Lucia, but in the end the perks to this place won him over. There are four Couples resorts, but you can't easily travel between them like you can with Sandals St. Lucia so that's a bit of a bummer. That just means we'll have to come back soon to check out their other resorts!

Whew! That was a lot of info!! But it was definitely worth all the research we put into it. I am almost more excited about the honeymoon than the wedding!

Did you do a ton of research on your honeymoon destination?
