Paint the Town Red

Or blue... Or yellow… Or pink...

I have a love/hate relationship with our wedding colors. After setting my eyes on the perfect bridesmaid dress...

I pretty much let the color of that dress dictate the rest of the wedding colors. I don't have much of a theme going on except for the "get married with a minimal number of things going wrong" theme (trademark pending) so there isn't much rhyme or reason to choosing the colors we did. I like that color, I think it's pretty annnnd let's move on to something else.

It's never that easy though is it? The problem is… I don't really know what color this is. It's not quite purple, it's not quite pink and the name the company gives it is "berry". Yea, try telling your florists that your color is "berry".

Wait, what's that? I also need accent colors? Oh, come on…. Now you're just messing with me.

And so I did what any other bride would do… I searched google images looking for anything wedding related that came close to this color. And that is how I found my inspiration photos. Heads up: Tons of colorful photos coming your way!

I'm a sucker for calla lilies and I love how the deep burgundy and bright pink flowers look together.

Okay, I finally feel like we're getting somewhere. I like pretty swirly designs and a classic look. Nice.

Because we're going for a more simple, elegant feel I decided that we'd go mainly "berry" and add some black and silver accents along the way.

Whew! That's a lot of inspiration. It's hard to picture it now, but I *hope* it all comes together.

P.S. If you haven't been there yet, you absolutely need to check out The Perfect Palette.

This woman is amazingly talented and her site gave me tons of inspiration for our wedding.

Seriously, I could go on for days about how awesome her site is, but please, go check it out for yourself!

How did you decide on your wedding colors? Did you go with an obscure shade like I did or did you stick with the basics?
