The Perfect Dress

First things first...

After going into three different bridal shops and trying on dress...

I was starting to feel a bit discouraged. I actually almost bought that last one, but I just wasn't 100% sold. I absolutely loved the sweetheart neckline and the gorgeous bead work. But it just felt a little *too* traditional for me. Then I tried on this dress:

And I started thinking (dangerous I know). But man, if I could only have the style of this Private Label dress with the gorgeous bead work of the dress I tried on earlier I would have the perfect dress. And then I started doing some sleuthing and believe it or not, my dream dress does exist!

I could tell just from looking at the photos that this was my dress, but the commitment-phobe in me wasn't ready to purchase until I had tried it on. No big deal, right? I made an appointment with a local shop that carried Private Label dresses and asked to try it on and... They didn't have it.

In fact, none of the shops I called in Westchester County had the dress. Or in the Albany area. Or in Manhattan and the surrounding boros. Turn outs the dress was from an older line and most of the shops had sold off the sample to make room for new dresses. Boooo.

This when I really started to freak out. Was I confident enough in my decision to purchase a dress without trying it on? Not really. In a last ditch effort of desperation I called a few shops near my grandparents' home in Connecticut to see if they had the coveted dress. And by some miracle, the last shop on my list still had the sample!

I swear I would have hugged that woman right through the phone if I could. I begged her to hold onto that dress for just a few more days and immediately made plans to meet there with my mom. We zipped off to the bridal shop and there it was, waiting for me in all of its glory:

Sold. Sold. And SOLD!

I think deep down I always knew I was going to purchase this dress, but I'm so happy that I was able to try it on before I purchased. I am forever grateful to Classic Brides by Eva for a) having the dress and b) letting me come in on such short notice to try it on. They were super to nice to me and if anyone in the tri-state area is looking for a dress, I highly, highly recommend them.

Did you try your dress on before buying it? Or were you braver than I was and purchase it without seeing it in person first?
