Guess What? They Let Me Eat Cake....

I am a bad blogger.

I went to my cake tastings and did not take a single photo.

In my defense I was really hungry and the cake was just begging to be eaten. So I ate it. Which means that I will not be able to distract you with photos of awesome cake in this post. (But that's okay, I am sure I will find ridiculous images to share with you.)

I pretty much already knew who we were going to use for our wedding cake, because their cakes are just deeeeeelicious and we use them for most of our parties (they did our engagement cake, which made an appearance in this post).... buuuuuut I like to play it safe so we decided to meet with two different bakeries. On a lovely Saturday afternoon, my momma, Mr. Coyote and I stopped by our preferred bakery.

The lovely woman (aka the Cake Lady) that we met with spoke to us for a few minutes about our options and then scurried off to find us some samples. She came back with a ridiculously huge platter of sugary goodness.

As we sat there salivating over what looked like dessert for 20 people, the Cake Lady described everything to us -- the cake flavors, the frostings, the fillings, the creams, the spreads.

Seriously. It was intense.

We had our choices of chocolate, vanilla, marble, rum and carrot as our cake flavors. Then there was the frosting. Fondant? Buttercream? Whipped? Oh and all in different flavors in case there wasn't enough options for ya.

Then there was custard. And mousse. And fruit fillings. And let me tell you... I went to town on that shit. I was so damn excited, I actually looked like this:

"Cake is the only thing that matters."

Here's the thing. Remember our venue hunt? Remember how we stretched ourselves so thin that I actually became physically sick?

Yeah I'm obviously a glutton for punishment because I didn't follow the advice I JUST gave you guys.

Ready for this??

I scheduled our second cake tasting right after the first one.

On the way to the second bakery we lamented our sorry state. We actually thought about cancelling because we had such an awesome experience at the first place and we knew there was no way we could stuff another morsel into our mouths.

I felt exactly like this. Actually I'm pretty sure my face turned that exact shade of green as well.

I felt guilty canceling on such short notice though and so we soldiered on.

Then, the gods shined down on us. (What gods? I'm not sure because I'm a monotheist, but probably the gods who protect you from eating too much cake. Yes, that's it. The Cake Gods.)

After a few minutes of chatting with the baker she told us that she doesn't do tastings in house. Instead, we choose our samples and take them home with us to taste at our leisure. She said always feels weird standing around watching potential clients stuff their faces.

I think all three of us gave an audible sigh. And so she wrapped some samples up for us and we were on our merry way.

Oh and yes, we did eventually try the samples from the second bakery. We actually had our own mini tasting with my MOH and her boyo... and a bottle of wine. It was spectacular.

Did anyone else try to schedule more than one cake tasting in a day? Or am I the only fool in the room?
