On How I Met the Creepy Dude

So I know I've been putting this off, but I think I am ready to share with you the story of our relationship and, more importantly, our engagement. It's a long story (so it might take me a few posts to explain) and it's not always a happy one, but it's real and it's ours and that's what matters.

I was 19 years old when I first laid eyes on Mr. Coyote. I'm going to be straight with you... It was not love at first sight.

One winter evening my college buddy (who has now been upgraded to Bridesmaid C) and I were taking a stroll to the neighborhood diner. It should be mentioned here that yes, I love to eat and yes, with the unbridled freedom of being a college student also comes an unwanted 15 pounds that stems from a year's worth of eating nothing but pancakes, chicken fingers, french fries and beer. Copious amounts of beer. (Unless you're reading this Mom... Then it was soda that made my ass so big. Deliciously sobering soda [mixed with rum]).

ANYWAYS! It was January and it was freezing. And we were about halfway to our destination when Bridesmaid C was all, "Oh hey! There is my friend, let's stop and say hi!" And she bounces off to greet this dude. With a goatee. And hair longer than mine. And he was wearing a stupid black shirt with some dumb saying like, "It's only funny until someone gets hurts. Then it's hilarious." And there were chains all over the place.  And metal spikes coming out of his face. And.... Okay maybe I'm starting to exaggerate a little, but the dude was scary.

And my dear, sweet friend is standing here talking to this stupid serial killer (okay so it turns out he was really a computer programmer, but sometimes it's really hard to tell the difference!) and I'm freezing my bum off wondering when the hell I can eat more pancakes. So you know, she introduces us, I say "hey" and then promptly forget his name. (Was it Pancakes? Chicken Fingers and Fries? Eh, I'll just call him Serial Killer.)

Way to make a first impression.

Because I went to a fairly small college and we had a similar circle of friends we did bump into each other from time to time. But it wasn't until I decided to spend the summer on campus that we really got to know each other (and I actually remembered his name).

Did anyone else have a less than romantic first meeting?
