Now, first before I share this story with you I need to be up front.
My name is Miss Coyote and I am a control freak.
Seriously. I watch David Tutera get in there and change a couple's wedding two weeks before and I have a panic attack. I once turned to Mr. C and asked him, "Can you imagine if we were on this show? I don't know if I could handle it!" He started laughing and told me that I wouldn't let poor David out of my sight until he showed me the entire blueprint for the day. Stay away David, stay far away. You've been warned.
Because of this I was pretty involved in picking out the ring. For a while I was obsessed with side stones. I spent way too much time staring at rings like this:

But then we went to a few jewelry shops together and once I tried them on... They just didn't feel right. I tried on a few different styles and did find a few things that I liked, but ultimately I left the decision up to him.
That was in February of 2010. As the weeks and months dragged on I would often corner my poor, patient man and say, "I have a question! Dude, what's your deal?" I said it so often that it kind of become an inside joke between us; whenever I went to ask him a question he would roll his eyes at me and say, "I know, what's my deal?"
Then one night that August he took me out for a fabulous dinner. Here's the thing... He tried to be sneaky about it, but I knew that he had just received the ring less than a week ago. I didn't know what it looked like, but I knew that he had received a mysterious package that seemed to fit the bill of an engagement ring.
All night during that dinner my stomach was doing flip flops. Dinner came. Is he going to propose now? Then dessert. Now? Then we sat around for a while. Now? Then we walked home in the beautiful weather. Now?? Then we came home. NOW?!?!
I plopped myself down on the couch. He went into the bedroom to change. In my head I just kept thinking... We just had a wonderful dinner, WHY didn't he take advantage of it? *grumble grumble grumble*
He came back in and sat with me on the couch. I cuddled up next to him and started to doze - my belly was full and I was exhausted. After a few minutes I opened my eyes and a ring was dangling literally right in front of my eyes. Then he whispered, "So, what's your deal?"
I was speechless!! I finally managed to squeak out a "really??" and he slid the most beautiful, perfect ring on my finger.

I didn't really know what the right reaction was for this moment, I just knew that there were a million butterflies in my stomach. It was too late at night to call anyone so I immediately jumped up and said, "We need to take pictures!! We need to document this!!!!"
Yep, Miss Coyote: The Romantic.
But that's okay. My unromanticness obviously paid off because I now have awesome photos of the night we made it official to share with you!!

Was your engagement a surprise or did you see it coming from a mile away like I did?
